DELUTS LUTS like DELUTS FILMTONE 3 and required Camera lut packs like 'SONY DELUTS FILMTONE 3 LUT PACK' etc are placed in:
your user<home>/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Custom LUTs folder.

CAMERA TRANSFORMS are placed in:
your user<home>/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Camera LUTs folder.

 

 

DaVinci Resolve:

Copy the necessary folders to the DaVinci Resolve LUT folder. Refresh the LUT directory if running.

Adobe Premiere:-

Adobe Premiere Lumetri Color Panel.

 

Adobe Premiere Adjustment Layer use for main Lumetri Color Panel and LUT loading.

I prefer resetting all my clips to default, removing any auto color or camera looks. Next, I apply an Adjustment Layer to all rushes as V2, adding both the Input LUT and Creative LUT. I then fine-tune the exposure, white balance, and tint on each clip using the basic Lumetri settings. This practice optimizes system memory, as it avoids loading Input and Creative LUTs on every individual clip.

 

Loading the Camera Transform into the Input LUT.

 

Navigate to the /DELUTS LUTS/CAMERA TRANSFORMS/ and select the LUT that matches your camera.

 

Load the Creative LUT by navigating to DELUTS LUTS/ and then one of the LUT packs.

 

 

If using PRORES RAW select S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 option.

You won't need a camera transform (Camera LUT) if you are using one of the sets marked for that camera and profile. Use the Camera LUT when using other DELUT sets. Apply the Camera LUT in the Inspector Panel.

Apple FCPX:-

Apple does not mention interpolation algorithms but at they optimize for performance and quality on Apple hardware and side by side match Tetrahedral based interpolation.

 


In color grading and video processing, the terms "Trilinear" and "Tetrahedral" refer to different types of interpolation methods used within a 3D lookup table (LUT). A 3D LUT is a three-dimensional grid that contains data for color correction and is used to map one color space to another. It operates on the principle that any color can be located within a three-dimensional space, defined by its red, green, and blue components.

Trilinear Interpolation: This method uses linear interpolation along the three axes within the 3D LUT. When moving from one point to another in the 3D space, trilinear interpolation considers the eight closest points on the LUT grid. It then linearly interpolates between these points to determine the output value. Trilinear interpolation is generally faster because it is less computationally intensive, but can sometimes produce gradients that are not as smooth, potentially leading to banding.

Tetrahedral Interpolation: This method divides the cube within the 3D LUT into six tetrahedra (a type of pyramid with a triangular base). When calculating a color transformation, tetrahedral interpolation only considers the four points of the tetrahedron within which the color falls. This method often results in smoother gradients and fewer interpolation artifacts, like banding, compared to trilinear interpolation. However, it is more computationally intensive and may require GPU acceleration to perform efficiently.

Banding can occur when the interpolation method is not able to produce a smooth gradient between colors. This can happen with trilinear interpolation because it can result in less precise color mapping compared to tetrahedral interpolation, especially when working with subtle gradients and a limited color depth. Tetrahedral interpolation, by using a more complex but more accurate method, is typically better at creating smooth transitions without visible banding.
